Determination of the Reference Temperature for a Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient in a Heated Tube Bank

The paper presents a theoretical analysis of heat transfer in heated tube bank, based on the Nusselt number computation as one basic dimensionless criteria. To compute coefficient, reference temperature must be determined. Despite value significance, quantity has several different formulations, which leads to discrepancies results. This investigates inline and staggered banks, made up 20 rows, at constant diameter longitudinal transverse pitch. Both laminar turbulent flows Re = 10,000 are considered, effect gravity is included well.
